Project: Deployment of Gausium Phantas Commercial Cleaning Robots

Location: Ten hotels across Australia

Solutions Provided: Sales, configuration, and onsite deployment of Gausium Phantas four-in-one cleaning robots

Transforming Hotel Operations with Smart Automation

McLaren Technologies continues to lead the way in helping hotels embrace intelligent automation. In partnership with SoftBank Robotics, McLaren recently completed the deployment of ten Gausium Phantas cleaning robots across the Salter Brothers Accor portfolio in Australia — marking one of the largest multi-property robot rollouts in the country.

As hotel operators face increasing labour challenges and rising guest expectations, interest in robotic cleaning solutions is growing rapidly. This project demonstrates how technology can work hand-in-hand with hotel teams to improve productivity, sustainability, and guest experience.

The Challenge

Salter Brothers, one of Australia’s leading hotel investment and management groups, wanted to enhance operational efficiency and consistency across its portfolio of Accor-branded hotels.

Like many in the hospitality industry, the group faced the challenge of maintaining premium cleanliness standards amid staffing shortages and increased cost pressures.

They sought a scalable, future-ready solution that could support housekeeping teams while upholding brand standards and improving day-to-day workflows.

The Results

The results were immediate and measurable. Within weeks, hotel teams began reporting significant time savings and strong returns on investment.

Key outcomes included:

• ⏱ Operational Efficiency: Routine floor cleaning tasks are now handled autonomously, freeing up staff for guest-facing work.

• 🌿 Sustainability: Intelligent water and chemical use reduces waste and supports eco-friendly operations.

• 💬 Staff Feedback: Housekeeping teams praised the robots for lightening workloads and maintaining consistent cleaning quality.

• 📈 Early ROI: Sites reported rapid payback, with clear cost savings and productivity gains within the first few months.

“The robot (Mimi) has been operating brilliantly and has been well adopted by the team.” - Executive Housekeeper, Accor Hotel

The Solution

McLaren Technologies introduced the Gausium Phantas — a compact, four-in-one autonomous floor cleaner designed specifically for commercial environments.

Each robot can vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust in a single operation, navigating complex layouts with ease using advanced AI and 3D sensors.

Following successful trials, McLaren sold and deployed ten units across the Salter Brothers Accor portfolio, including well-known Novotel, Mercure, and ibis Styles properties nationwide.

The McLaren team provided full configuration, training, and onsite implementation support to ensure each robot integrated smoothly into hotel operations.

“McLaren’s deployment support was seamless. Within days, the teams were confident using the robots as part of their daily routine.”

The Outcome

The Salter Brothers project highlights McLaren Technologies’ capability to deliver innovative hospitality technology at scale — from initial consultation through to deployment and post-installation support.

By integrating Gausium’s smart cleaning technology, hotels are not only improving operational efficiency but also creating a more sustainable, future-focused workplace.
