Sydney 28 July 2015 – McLaren Technologies announces the successful launch of a flexible Wireless Internet service for Australia’s largest not-for-profit Catholic private health care group, St John of God Health Care.

Accessible broadband is no longer simply a desirable added-value for customers. It is an expectation for all visitor-centred facilities. The initial roll out of centralised web portal and HotSpot functionality at St John of God Health Care offers time-based and volume-based plans for patients, visitors and staff.

“By providing free Wifi internet access to hospital patients and visitors across Australia we are able to further enhance the patient experience and provide convenience during their time in hospital,” says Aaron Shimmings, Network Systems Manager of St John of God Health Care.

With decentralised locations across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific, St John of God Health Care’s management priorities were clear: accessible internet service to meet the expectations of patients and visitors across hospital locations, reliable service and ease of roll out. Flexibility to add or remove facilities and to generate useful management reporting on uptake, use and traffic flow were also key priorities.

McLaren Technologies have successfully met all these requirements. Working with Data3 and St John of God Health Care’s internal IT team they designed a flexible solution which provides dynamic portals for each location, supported by a central McLaren Fluide server which provides the perfect HotSpot and location-based management.  St John of God Health Care now has central control of guest internet services, automatic user registrations, authorisation using email addresses and ease of access to divisional hospital information.  The web-based management portal also allows St John of God Health Care management to add and edit healthcare locations.

The service is supported by Support assistance from McLaren Support Services to St John of God Health Care Staff.

“The St John of God Health Care Project is an exciting opportunity for McLaren to deliver a public infrastructure project for the Health Care Vertical,” says Matthew Watson, Chief Operating Officer, McLaren Technologies
