Sarah has seven years of experience in the hospitality industry at some high-profile properties including the Fullerton and the Pan Pacific Singapore. This acts as invaluable experience for her to draw upon as she further develops her career at McLaren.
Starting with McLaren in August 2012 as Hospitality Consultant, Sarah used her experience to educate and influence hotels with operational best practice process she has learnt from working in the hotel environment.
Now, with three years’ experience as Hospitality Consultant behind her, Sarah is now taking on her next challenge with McLaren to manage the Hospitality Consultant team. Her responsibilities include ensuring best practices are provided to customers and support cases are met with quick turnaround and resolution.
We asked Sarah to give us an insight to what a typical day involves for a Hospitality Consultant on project:
“As the Hospitality Consultants are always travelling on projects that last for 2-3 weeks, it’s really difficult just to pick one day as experiences vary greatly! However, the first HotSOS Go Live stands out as it’s usually pretty eventful. We usually start our day earlier than usual, just before 7am. The agenda is as follows:
06.45 – Meet up with IT and Champion Team. Check in HotSOS to ensure all users are logged in on their devices and ready to start using HotSOS.
0700 – Start moving to key departments such as Engineering and Housekeeping and begin briefing on using their devices. Ensure the coordinators are logged in to HotSOS on their PCs and assure them the day will run smoothly with noticeably less phone calls. We will continue visiting the remaining departments such as Front Office, In Room Dining, Security and Spa
1100 – Catch up with HotSOS champions after monitoring the Hotel’s usage to ensure the challenges are addressed, all interfaces are crossed checked to ensure systems are communicating well.
1300 – After lunch, begin visiting key departments again to gather feedback on half a day’s usage so far. Usually by this stage we feel really satisfied seeing how HotSOS has benefited the Hotel’s operations and receiving compliments on training and the system.
1700 – End the day with a beer!”
When not travelling, it’s no wonder she looks forward to her bonding time at home with her dog Walnut, family and EATING! Out of all the places she has travelled to for work, she likes Australia the best because of the laid back culture, as well as meeting many friendly people. Right back at you Sarah!
